Directions

210 min.
1. Step

The first thing to do is to sift the flour. This step is very important to achieve a spongy texture in our bread, as it eliminates possible impurities and aerates the flour.

2. Step

Once the flour is sifted, make a volcano in a large bowl and add in the center the crumbled fresh yeast, sugar, butter at room temperature, salt, eggs and warm milk. Mix well until a homogeneous dough is obtained. Without fear of getting your hands dirty, this is the secret of the good baker!

3. Step

When the dough is well integrated, pour it on a smooth floured surface and knead for about 10-15 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. This step is essential to activate the yeast and make our bread rise properly.

4. Step

Once the desired texture is obtained, add the chopped candied fruits, raisins and walnuts. Knead again so that they are well distributed throughout the dough.

5. Step

Let the dough rest covered with a clean cloth in a warm place for about 2 hours or until it doubles in size.

6. Step

After this time, knead again and form a bun. Preheat the oven to 180ªC.

7. Step

Place the bun on a baking sheet covered with baking paper and let it rest for 30 minutes.

8. Step

Varnish the bread with beaten egg, this will give it a nice golden shine.

9. Step

Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the bread is golden brown.

10. Step

Let cool completely before sprinkling with powdered sugar. This step, besides giving it a festive touch, softens the powerful flavor of the candied fruits.
