Homemade General Tso's chicken recipe
General Tso's chicken is a Chinese and American dish. Following this recipe, you'll learn how to make a homemade version. Don't miss it!
Ingredients
Marinate
- 760 g chicken thigh
- 1⁄2 tsp salt
- 1⁄2 tsp white pepper
- 1 tablespoon rice wine
- 2 egg whites
Dough
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tablespoon maize starch
- 3 tablespoon self-rising flour
- water
- 2 tsp sunflower oil
Sauce
- 2 tablespoon light soy sauce
- 1 tsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon rice wine
- water
- 1 tsp maize starch
Stir-fry
- 2 tablespoon sunflower oil
- 6 dried chillies
- 2 green chillies
- 35 g ginger
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp sesame

Directions
Slice the chicken and marinate for about 15 minutes.
Chop chillies, ginger and garlic.
Add the ingredients for the batter and get all the pieces of chicken in a frying pan.
Prepare the sauce and set it aside.
Heat the oil and fry the chicken until golden brown.
Fry the chicken again at a very high temperature for 1 minute.
On high heat, sauté the two types of chilli peppers, together with chopped ginger and chopped garlic.
Add the prepared sauce and stir to thicken the sauce as it heats up.
Dip the chicken into the sauce and mix quickly so that the chicken is enveloped in the sauce.
Serve and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
