- 3⁄4 lb butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 31⁄2 cups All Purpose Flour
- 1⁄4 tsp salt
- 1 cup icing sugar
- green and yellow food colouring
- Red edible pearl decorations
Mix together the room-temperature butter and sugar until they are light and pale in colour. Then add the vanilla.
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour and salt, then add them to the butter-and-sugar mixture. Mix until the dough starts to come together. Then, place it in a workspace, knead and shape it into a flat disk. Wrap in plastic and chill for 60 minutes.
Roll the dough thick and cut using star cutters. Place the cookies on an ungreased baking sheet and sprinkle them with sugar. Bake for 20 minutes in a preheated oven to 180°C. Allow cooling.
Make the frosting by mixing the icing sugar with drops of water and stirring. Then, in separate bowls, add the food colour.
Frost each cookie for the trees. Make sure to save some yellow small stars to go on top. Leave to dry. Stack the cookies on top of each other binding each layer with a drop of frosting.
Once dry, place pearl decorations on the points of the stars. Enjoy!
