- 12 brown eggs
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1 package red egg dye
In a large pot, add the water and bring it to a rolling boil. Once boiling, add the eggs and lower the heat to simmer, cover the pot and let cook for 15 minutes.
Add the eggs to an ice bath and let cool for at least 5 minutes.
Remove one cup of hot water. Carefully pour in the red dye, and mix well with a metal spoon.
Pour the concentrated dye mixture back into the pot that you used to boil the eggs.
Using a large metal spoon place the hard-boiled eggs. Let them soak for 5 minutes.
Carefully remove the eggs from the pot and place them on a plate with paper towels. Let them dry.
Rub the eggs with oil to preserve the dye. Enjoy the best Greek Easter eggs!
