Simple Basic Crunchy Tossed Salad

This tossed salad has been a constant in my kitchen for years; a quick fix for lunch on busy days or a refreshing side dish for hearty meals.

1. Step

Start by washing all your vegetables thoroughly. Being a regular in salad preparation, I can't stress enough the importance of this step.

2. Step

Chop the lettuce, slice the bell pepper, dice the cucumber, grate the carrot, and halve the cherry tomatoes. Don't rush when cutting your ingredients. The more time and love you put into the process, the more delicious your salad will be. This is a tip I learned from my grandma.

3. Step

Combine all the chopped ingredients in a large salad bowl. Make sure it's big enough for you to toss the salad comfortably without sending your vegetables flying around the kitchen.

4. Step

In a small separate bowl, whisk together the olive oil and vinegar. Season it with some salt and pepper.

Drizzle this dressing over the salad, then toss everything together until the vegetables are well-coated. From my experience, the secret to the perfect tossed salad lies in ensuring all ingredients are evenly mingled to achieve harmony in each bite.

Lastly, sprinkle the crumbled feta cheese on top. If you like, you could add some toasted seeds or nuts for a crunchy touch; another recommendation from personal experience.
