This scrumptious Potato Bake with French Onion Soup is a crowd-pleaser that leaves nothing but clean plates and happy faces around the dinner table.

- 1 can of French onion soup
- 1 kg of potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups of grated cheese
- 300 ml of cream
- 1 teaspoon of butter
- 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
- salt and pepper to taste

1. Step
Start by preheating your oven to 180°C (350°F). While your oven is warming up, grease your baking dish with the teaspoon of butter to prevent the potatoes from sticking.
2. Step
Next, arrange your thinly sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish. Make sure to spread them evenly and also try to overlap them slightly for better texture.
3. Step
Pour the can of French onion soup over the potatoes. Make sure every potato is coated with soup for an even flavor. This is a tip I learned from my grandmother; she always said, \Every potato deserves to be as savory as the next.\4. Sprinkle the dried thyme over your soupy potatoes. This is where you can also add a touch of salt and pepper to taste.
4. Step
Now comes my favorite part - pour the fresh cream over the layers. It gives a nice rich, creamy finishing touch to this dish.

Finally, spread your grated cheese all over the top. I recommend using a mix of cheddar and mozzarella, but feel free to play around with your favorite cheeses.

Pop the baking dish into your oven and bake for one hour, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Let it cool slightly before serving, to allow the flavors to settle in and the creaminess to take effect.
