Best Simple Grilled Marinated Swordfish

This healthy and savory dish has been a real crowd-pleaser at many of my summer barbeques. The marinade is simple yet effective, and the grilling time is short.

Directions

1. Step

The first step is to prepare the marinade: In a medium-sized bowl, stir together 1/4 cup of lemon juice and 1/4 cup of olive oil. To the mixture, add 2 minced cloves of garlic, 1 tablespoon of dried basil, and 1 tablespoon of freshly chopped parsley. This combination of ingredients will bring a burst of freshness and flavor to the swordfish.

2. Step

Season your swordfish fillets with salt and pepper to taste. Make sure to coat both sides properly to bring out the full flavor of the fish during grilling.

3. Step

Immerse the swordfish fillets in the marinade, ensuring both sides are covered. This step is essential since the marinade is absorbed by the swordfish, allowing for a fantastic feast of flavors at the dining table.

4. Step

Cover the bowl with a cling film and refrigerate the fillets, letting them marinate for about 4 hours. I've noticed the longer the fish marinates, the more flavors it absorbs, but don't leave it for more than 24 hours, as the acid in the lemon juice can start to cook the fish.

5. Step

Preheat the grill for high heat. If you coat the grill grate with oil or a non-stick spray, it helps to prevent the fish from sticking during the grilling process.

6. Step

Once the grill is hot, grill the swordfish for 5-6 minutes per side. A handy tip - the fish should easily come away from the grill once it's perfectly cooked, so if it's sticking, give it a bit more time.

7. Step

Serve the grilled swordfish hot, garnishing with some extra parsley if desired. A light salad or grilled vegetables pair beautifully with this dish, making it a comprehensive main course.
